The Kilkenny camogie girls have produced a habit of creating late drama in recent times and once again they made life difficult for themselves in sweltering sunshine at O’Connor Park, Tullamore, last Saturday afternoon.

The GAA Player of the Month Awards ceremony was held at the Westbury Hotel, Dublin last week and saw the two leading ladies from last year’s camogie and ladies football seasons, Kilkenny’s Anne Dalton and Cork’s Angela Walsh, respectively, honoured with their 2009 Player of the Year awards.

It was a weekend of major disappointment for both the Kilkenny senior and intermediate camogie teams as they were comprehensively beaten by Cork in glorious summer sunshine at Tom Ryall Park, Kilmanagh last Sunday.

All-Ireland Champions Cork may have dominated the Camogie All-Stars with Gemma O’Connor getting honoured for an unprecedented sixth successive time and five players receiving All Star awards for the first time.
